Elise Dietrich earned her Ph.D. in Latin American Studies from Tulane University in 2014, with a focus on Brazilian Cultural Studies. She taught Portuguese language and Brazilian studies at the United States Military Academy at West Point from 2013-2017. She has worked as an examiner in Portuguese for the International Baccalaureate organization since 2018.
Her research focuses on representations of race, gender, and class in Brazilian popular music, literature, and media, and her work has been published in journals such as Hispania and the Afro-Hispanic Review. Her papers can be viewed here.
