KILL YOUR IDOLS

A graphic memoir about reckoning with my rock and roll idols from adolescence from the perspective of middle age.

I began this project back in 2018 when I was pretty new to comics, and then it ripened on the shelf for five years before I felt ready to finish it. I still have a ways to go, but I’d say it's over halfway complete now!

Part One: Fandom

I first released this as a 24 page minicomic in 2024. It's an in-depth exploration of my taste in music as a teenager, with an emphasis on Sonic Youth and Jane's Addiction, and deep dives into my IDOLS Kim Gordon and Perry Farrell. Here are some sample pages:

Part TWO: Live & In Person

This new 2026 issue explores what happens when I see my idols perform live, troubling the fantasy world I had constructed in Part 1. It features poignant anecdotes from 90s concerts and beyond, drawn with love and the perspective that only time can provide. This 36 page black & white minicomic was funded through a Kickstarter campaign in August 2026.
